Michael Egenton, Senior Vice President, Transportation and Environment
Michael Egenton is the senior vice president of Environment and Transportation for the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce. Michael is the chief chamber lobbyist on environmental, transportation, energy, and local government issues. He represents the business community on legislative and regulatory matters to the Governor, State Legislature, various state agencies and the press.
Michael is a gubernatorial appointee to the New Jersey Clean Air Council, where he served as chairman for two years. The Clean Air Council is an advisory body that makes recommendations to the State of New Jersey on matters and programs pertaining to air pollution control. One of Michael's major environmental legislative accomplishments was the passage of the Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) measure. The LSRP program issues licenses to qualified individuals to conduct the remediation and cleanup of sites in New Jersey.
Michael has been instrumental in advocating for the renewal of the Transportation Trust Fund (TTF) over the last decade. The TTF contributes critical funding to maintain and upgrade the state's roads, bridges, rails, and other key infrastructure.
Prior to the Chamber, Michael was a research consultant for the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He was the co-author of The Economic Impact of Environmental Statutes, Rules and Regulations Which Affect Industry in New Jersey report. He also served as a research assistant at the New Jersey State Commission on County and Municipal Government, where he provided staff support to various state legislators and local government representatives.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Michael graduated magna cum laude from Seton Hall University with a degree in Political Science. He completed his Master's Degree in Public Administration at Kean University, where he graduated summa cum laude. He resides in Voorhees Township, Camden County with his wife and two children.
