The Edge for October 2025
Artificial intelligence isn’t just a buzzword. It’s already changing the way New Jersey businesses work. We asked New Jersey Chamber members and experts to share how they’re putting AI to use, and the advice they have for others looking to harness its power. Read their insights below.
AI allows doctors to be fully present with patients
Physicians can use AI to take notes. It allows the doctor to be face-to-face and fully present with a patient while having a conversation. It also applies to small businesses. AI can be used to summarize meetings or reports. This can save hours of work. However, you must keep in mind that AI tools are not perfect. You need to be thorough. You have to make sure what it generates is accurate. You can't just take it at face value. You still need a person to touch it.

You can train an AI receptionist, and an AI sales rep
I have an AI note taker. It records meetings and generates notes. It’s how I dipped in to AI. (Our agency) also has an after-hours phone number that is answered by an AI voice receptionist. It’s able to provide intelligent answers to questions asked by callers. Meanwhile, we are alerted to the call. Our clients know how to reach us, but it’s a good after-hours tool. Whether your business develops an AI sales rep or an AI receptionist, just make sure it reflects your brand and your voice. Be diligent and review everything.

It makes businesses fast and flexible
At MikeWorldWide, we support a lot of client executives with their LinkedIn presence. We actually use AI to create custom bots that learn the unique personality and tone (of the executive), as well as the executives’ viewpoints across a variety of complex topics. We then feed effectiveness data to the custom bots so it continually improves. This not only allows us to be more efficient, it allows us to be predictable and effective.

AI helps me create presentations
I help college students write resumes and prepare for job interviews. I use ChatGPT and Copilot to help develop questions that students should expect to hear in interviews – based on the kinds of jobs they are applying for. I also use AI to create content for presentations. AI helps me create language for my slides on job searching, resume writing, and interviewing. It helps me work faster.

It’s a brave new world
I am old-school, traditional. When I counsel my clients, I write my own session notes. I am aware that there are AI programs that can take notes, and produce reports. It could help me capture information that I may miss. But confidentiality is important to me and the people I’m working with, so I’m hesitant. I’d like to test it out with permission of the person I’m coaching. At some point, I will. It’s a brave new world.
